27 October 2026 EUROBAT & ILA & CBI feedback on the Draft Delegated Regulation Ares(2026)9188325 and its Annexes, supplementing and amending Regulation (EU) 2023/1542
28 October 2026:
EUROBAT, togther with the International Lead Association (ILA) and the Consortium for Battery Innovation (CBI) have submitted joint feedback on the European Commission’s draft Delegated Regulation supplementing and amending the EU Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.
The feedback covers the minimum values for electrochemical performance and durability of rechargeable industrial batteries, technical and safety parameters, and standards concerning the battery passport.
Our recommendations focus on the following areas:
🔹 Recognising the role of lead-based batteries in critical infrastructure.
🔹 Introducing separate stress factor tables for lead-based batteries, in line with the draft’s technology-neutral approach.
🔹 Applying proportionate, risk-based safety requirements that account for differences between battery technologies.
A technology-neutral and science-based approach is essential to ensure that EU battery legislation supports safety, reliability and innovation across Europe’s diverse battery industry.
